This story was inspired by the Tiwa Tribe, the Native American people of Taos Pueblo in Taos NM. This beautifully illustrated book was the result of an anthropologic study that helped create the love story between a young Native Tiwa girl and the white son of the local forest ranger. The glossary for this book explains some Native terms and meanings of the Tiwa Tribe in Taos New Mexico, the area where the author was living for some years of her life.
